The pilgrimage for peace
Organized by the two main Buddhist communities, the pilgrimage began at the historical site of Wat Phnom to head to the Independence Monument with three main objectives:
1) To ask for alms to ensure that the ceasefire between the two countries (Cambodia and Thailand) is respected forever.
2) To ask for alms from the Thai side to release the 18 Cambodian soldiers who were taken hostage, on behalf of both countries, who are followers of the same Theravada Buddhism.
3) To ask for alms from the governments of both countries to maintain peace, security, and stability for the people of both countries forever.
