Beautiful Cambodian Traditional Costume
The Sbai is a Khmer(Cambodian )word that just refers to any kind of thin, thick and soft garment. In clothing, it specifically refers to a shawl-like garment or breast cloth used mostly by women and that it drapes diagonally over ones shoulder and while leaving ones other side shoulder bare but it can also be worn with various blouses underneath it while the bottom of it falls behind.The Sbai is also versatile as it comes in various of sizes and lengths and that can be tied or wrapped in different ways and can be used as a shoulders or arms shawl, a blouse or even a bandeau top. Sbai is said to find its origins during Funan an early Khmer Kingdom when King Kaundinya I gave it to his wife Neang Neak (Naga Princess) to wear it on their wedding as it was to look like a Naga's Tail or an Khmerization Indian Saree.
